Greening the Grid: Corporate Roadmaps to a Cleaner Tomorrow

We conducted a research study to understand how corporations are utilizing available tools to mitigate their Scope 2 emissions. The study captured specific strategies employed by sustainability leaders to set reduction goals and secure stakeholder support. It also uncovered key insights into the challenges these leaders face when investing in Scope 2 mitigation efforts.

Research Overview

Project Purpose:

The purpose of Greening the Grid research is to assess the current landscape of sustainability leaders and their strategies in order to develop an actionable roadmap that highlights best practices and helps organizations understand their position to make informed decisions in the clean energy space.

Research Objectives:

Assess the current landscape of scope 2 emissions mitigation goal-setting process and each company’s specific goals.
Identify the most used tools and approaches for mitigating scope 2 emissions.
Explore the challenges and barriers faced by sustainability leads in implementing effective emissions offsetting strategies.
Provide recommendations from sustainability leaders who have achieved their goals to provide a roadmap for others on their Scope 2 mitigation journey.

Methodology:

This research was based on a quantitative survey distributed in Fall 2024 to sustainability leaders across the U.S. Responses are confidential unless participants provided explicit permission for attribution. Findings will be shared with participants and the broader sustainability community via LinkedIn and a downloadable PDF on our website.
